It’s been more than 7 years since the deadly earthquakes in Christchurch. The South Island city was the second most populous city in New Zealand at the time. Not only were buildings, schools, homes and businesses destroyed, but the lives of the people living in the Canterbury Region were changed forever. The 11 February earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 6.3 destroyed roads, heritage sites and left a path of destruction in the city centre and surrounding suburbs.

In Australia, a single colour can be the subject of a trade mark application. However, a recent case heard before the Federal Court of Australia has demonstrated just how hard it is to secure a trade mark registration for a single colour, especially in respect of everyday consumer goods, such as food items and beverages.
