New Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre builds new opportunities

Ben & Jerry’s is encouraging potential franchisees to scoop up an extremely attractive opportunity to set up a Scoop Shop franchise in the new Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre.

The 13,000sqm dining and entertainment precinct will be anchored by a full line Woolworths, 14,00sqm Dan Murphy’s, over 40 specialty shops and a boutique 6 screen cinema. The new site is deemed a perfect location for the next Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop in Australia. Key benefits of the location include:

Workers- The building has a combination of windows, louvres, and skylights to provide fresh air and daylight to all regularly-occupied spaces. Any area of a tenancy where a staff member occupies for more than 4 hours must have access to natural daylight.

Customers- The building incorporates ‘biophilic design’ – that is, design elements that connect occupants with nature. This environment should encourage longer dwell time and repeat visitation.

Community- The development of the shopping centre will increase the ecological value of the site overall and also contribute to a fund that protects part of the Tasmanian punchbowl. For every dollar of build cost, Frasers will donate half a cent to a charity or social good project of choice.

Suppliers- All building products will have a complete ingredients list, showing that they contain no ‘worst-in-class’ Red List chemicals such as Formaldehyde, HFRs, and PVC. All timber will be Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified or salvaged. The material supply chain will be as local as possible. There will be a substantial reduction in landfill waste, in construction and operation.

Environment- A rooftop urban farm is part of a series of measures that enables on-site food growing. This centre will be Net positive water and energy.

Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre is part of a regeneration project led by Fraser Property that aims to create the world’s most sustainable retail centre, by seeking global accreditation under the Living Building Challenge. Flowing out onto a lush Urban Plaza the retail hub sits below a first for an Australian shopping centre- an exciting, innovative and activated rooftop urban farm.
Along with many other worldwide issues, Ben & Jerry’s is a big ambassador for sustainability and protecting the environment therefore, it is a perfect location for a Scoop Shop to be placed in what's anticipated to be the world’s most sustainable shopping centre.
