The Talbot Doors Story!
"Talbot Doors decided to move towards a franchise model of growth in 2016. We met DC Strategy at a franchising expo in 2016. After evaluating the different companies who supported businesses who wanted to embark on a franchise model of growing their businesses, the Talbot management team decided that DC Strategy would be the best partner moving forward.
We subsequently engaged DC Strategy to develop our franchise model, specifically tailored to our unique business. Talbot specialises in auto doors and gates and is an industry that will appeal to the electronic trades people. DC Strategy ran a beneficial workshop with our management team to formulate the most appropriate franchise system and also assisted in modelling the financial forecasts of the proposed franchisees.
This modelling, franchisee profiling and tailored strategy formulation, fed into our franchise agreement and is still currently used by our Talbot Doors recruitment team today. The process was initially daunting for the Talbot management team, however the experience and leadership skills of the DC Strategy consultants quickly put things into perspective and structured the process, allowing the company to now be in the position to offer excellent franchise business opportunities to potential business owners, especially individuals with an electronics trade background.
DC Strategy assisted to attract our first franchisee in December 2017. He took over the Western Sydney region, which included a goodwill payment for existing business that was already serviced by Talbot Doors. 12 months later, the results have proven to be exceptional with all budgets and expectations exceeded beyond our most optimistic outlook.
Tekin Temil, the franchise owner, has within the first 12 months, increased sales by 40% from the previous year and achieved his dream of bringing his son on board to work alongside him within 6 months of starting the business. In this period, he has more than doubled the target profit % after drawing wages for both his son and himself.
Talbot's second franchisee has also signed and will start operations on 1 March 2019 taking over the Northern Sydney region. This will also include an element of goodwill where he will be taking over an existing client base and growing from there.
DC Strategy has supported Talbot Doors in a number of different ways, including the formulation of our legal franchise agreements and loan agreements - where we have vendor financed the goodwill payments. DC Strategy have also ensured that Talbot Doors have the correct and current disclosure documents and that we comply with the Franchising Law and Code in Australia.
Talbot Doors is happy to recommend DC Strategy as a partner to any business embarking on a Franchising model moving forward. Their team will evaluate your business and provide the confidence that your business is or is not a viable entity to embark on the franchise model. Furthermore, if DC Strategy do support your model, you are given the confidence that the system you are proposing is viable and appropriate for Franchising in Australia."
